Great post and some hard-won lessons. I used to run the mountain racing circuit and the downhills were always the toughest for me. I always looked for races that ended at the top. Heat is another killer for us northern people. I can just feel the misery of your day. But you did it - and still came away with a great photo, a wonderful article, and wisdom for the training ahead. What an amazing story! I recognize that drive to extract something positive from a hard experience--some new lesson, some new understanding. But the grit to keep going? I don’t know how to shop for that. Thanks for your great newsletters!
